The Successful Applicant

To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 09/28/2022. TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS07. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF50 that shows your timeingrade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: TimeInGrade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Specialized experience includes but not limited to: The incumbent provides direct social work services to patients assigned. The incumbent must elicit pertinent historical and current social data and determine the nature and extent of the problem(s). After determining the problem(s) with the client the incumbent must develop a plan with the client and put it into effect. This will often include referral to appropriate VA and/or community resources obtaining and giving specific information and providing guidance in areas such as applying for benefits utilizing public services etc. A major component of this position is the wide range of emotional states encountered such as anxiety depression anger and confusion. The incumbent is expected to recognize these states and respond appropriately. This refers to appropriate personal behavior on the part of the incumbent such as tolerance and calmness and also the ability to think through and implement necessary action. Often it is necessary to determine the internal strengths and weaknesses of the individual client and the type and availability of support. systems. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However there may be some walking standing bending carrying of light Items such as papers books small parts etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
