Conditions of Employment Continued: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employees must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force national security and public safety. This position has been identified as having regular contact with children. In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101 647 Section 231 Public Law 102190 Section 1094 and DoD Instruction 1402.05 background checks are required. DD Form 2981 Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission Installation Records Check FBI fingerprint and Tier 1 with a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check will be completed on any person selected for this position. Renewal every five years of the Installation Records FBI Fingerprint and SCHR is required with annual review of DD Form 2981. In order to qualify you must meet the SPECIALIZED experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Technical and Medical Support Positions. GS06: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS05 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs. Counselor in a youth summer camp. Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills. Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew. Group activities leader in the Armed Services. Unit leadermonitorproctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government) employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution social service or manpower development. Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private public welfare government program or community organizations or in voluntary activities. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs. NOTE: Your resume must support this response. OR EDUCATION: One full year of graduate education meets the specialized experience required only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work of a Social Services Assistant. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timeingrade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS05 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of FAP requirements and procedures and basic methods and techniques of counseling. Knowledge in developing an education curriculum with learning objectives and outcomes. Skill in using word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters reports memos and form letters. Skill in tactfully interviewing clients coming to the FAP office. Ability to work well with others in a team setting and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
