The Successful Applicant

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service under the authority of Title 5 P.L. 114328 Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA) and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Air Force meet our mission requirements as a Social worker. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is excluded and ineligible for labor organization representation. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Must have a masters degree in social work by a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Note: 1. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the masters degree in social work. 2. A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS12 must have at least one year experience at the GS11 level in the normal line of progression through federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that involved clinical social work assignments. Experience that demonstrates particular competencies to successfully manage a state psychological health program. Experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems helping them workout plans for improving the situation providing assistance and services referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate.
