QUALIFICATIONS To apply for this position you must have the following qualifications: English Language Proficiency In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. AND A bachelors degree or 4 years of education above high school leading to a bachelors degree in behavioral or social science or a related discipline appropriate to this position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND Applicants must meet both the positive education qualifications requirements above AND the below qualifications. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of Specialized Experience that includes but is not limited to: Develop information that ensured public understanding of communitybased suicide prevention programs. Provides a variety of suicide prevention training in the community. Develops short and longterm goals and strategies while collaborating with coalitions and community organizations. (Resume(s) must clearly support the duties and experience required for this position. We will not make assumptions regarding experience.) OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position and been obtained at an accredited college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduatelevel education (beyond 18 semester hours) and specialized experience as described above which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of this position. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Oral Communication Organizational Awareness Planning and Evaluating Teaching Others IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and does not require any special physical effort. Work will require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Employee may carry light items such as papers books and portable computer requirement or driving a motor vehicle relative to attendance at meetings. The work often requires long hours to meet project deadlines and to devise corrective action and solutions to unexpected technical and/or management crises resulting in sometimes highly stressful work situations.
