DD Form 2981 Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission Installation Records Check FBI fingerprint and Tier 1 with a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check will be completed on any person selected for this position. Renewal every five years of the Installation Records FBI Fingerprint and SCHR is required with annual review of DD Form 2981. In order to qualify you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Technical and Medical Support Social Services Aid and Assistant Series0186. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS06 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include intensive knowledge of the Family Advocacy Programs (FAP) rules operating policies practices procedures and regulations to provide information about the programs services requirements and procedures provide basic counseling and participate in the development of action plans for the Family Advocacy Outreach Prevention Team. Knowledge of all resource and referral sources to assist employees to informally resolve conventional family problems. Knowledge of types of unconventional family problems to refer clients to other Family Advocacy staff. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants must have a combination of qualifying specialized experience and education that when combined total at least 100 percent. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIMEINGRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable timeingrade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS06 level is required to meet the timeingrade requirements for the GS07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of FAP requirements and procedures and basic methods and techniques of counseling. 2. Knowledge in developing an education curriculum with learning objectives and outcomes. 3. Skills in word processing automation software to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters reports memos and form letters. 4. Skill in tactfully interviewing clients coming to the FAP office. 5. Ability to work well with others in a team setting and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
