The Successful Applicant

This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. Applications will be reviewed every two weeks the first cutoff date for applications is 10 business days from the opening date and every two weeks thereafter. Applicants with 10point Veterans Preference who submit a complete application after each two week cutoff date but before the List of Eligibles is issued will be considered and referred on the List if qualified. Applications will remain active for 3 months. GS5: 52 weeks or 1 year specialized experience at the GS4 grade level or equivalent OR Education Successful completion of a full 4year course of study leading to a bachelors degree that (a) included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of subjects directly related to the work of the position (b) included a major in social behavior human behavior or health care or (c) was supplemented by specialized experience as described above for GS4. OR Equivalent combinations of education and experience. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelors degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study or 60 semester hours beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:o Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs.o Counselor in a youth summer camp.o Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills.o Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew.o Group activities leader in the Armed Services.o Unit leadermonitorproctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility.o Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government) employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution social service or manpower development.o Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private public welfare government program or community organizations or in voluntary activities.o Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet timeingrade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 (Title 25 USC Section 472).
