The Successful Applicant
To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 05/14/2026. TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS07. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF50 that shows your timeingrade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess oneyear timeingrade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF50 that clearly demonstrates oneyear timeingrade. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): This position has an occupational requirement. Candidates must meet one of the following Education or Specialized experience requirements. Education: Graduate education is not creditable for positions above the GS07 level. Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience is experience in a program of direct social welfare services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Attention to Detail Customer Service Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Reading Comprehension SelfManagement Stress Tolerance Teamwork Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is active and is performed in a clinical setting as well as the community and serves a Veteran population with complex needs. The care does not usually require physically caring for a Veteran. Normal safety precautions and practices are required for working in a healthcare environment. This position requires emotional ability to deal effectively with multitasking and high volume of patient flow. The position requires sitting bending stooping and walking consistent with the delivery of services in the office hospital and community. The position may entail lifting of no more than 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Whenever possible carts and dollies will be utilized as an alternative to lifting. In carrying out responsibilities it may be necessary for the incumbent to travel into the community where he/she conducts interviews with the Veterans family members representatives of community health welfare agencies legal and law enforcement agencies along with community social services agencies. Operation of a motor vehicle is required. This position requires significant travel in a government vehicle and transporting Veterans in a government vehicle. The incumbent will be required to perform most of their job duties in the community and will be required to utilize a GSA vehicle while performing such duties. The Social Services Representative will successfully complete all facility requirements to drive a GSA Vehicle and transport Veterans. This includes all required physicals including a preemployment physical. In addition the incumbent will successfully complete all facility required TMS and other trainings to drive a GSA Vehicle and transport Veterans.
