TimeInGrade Requirement: There is no TimeInGrade requirement at this grade level. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Minimum Requirements: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as a Social Work Associate in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) which all applicants must meet: EDUCATION: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in major fields of study such as: social welfare sociology psychology public administration philosophy education anthropology history economics and/or English. DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREMENT: A drivers license in the State or Territory in which assigned is required for this position. If required candidates must pass a Federal service driving test. Grade Determination: GS05: None beyond the minimum requirements. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Partnering Computer Skills Communications Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and nonstrenuous and is carried out within the confines of the office/work space provided in the community or in the VAMC/CBOCS. A significant amount of walking throughout the Medical Center and in the community is required for facetoface contact with patients family members and medical center staff and community agency staff.
