Appointments are on a timelimited basis Temporary or Term. Initial Term appointments will not exceed 2 years with the ability to extend for two additional terms (not to exceed 2 years for each extension) NTE a total of 6 years. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the Masters degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Professional knowledge of social work practices principles theories and administrative requirements to be able to apply them in a clinical or occupational setting. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of social work practices principles theories and administrative requirements to be able to apply them in a clinical or occupational setting. 2. Professional knowledge of evidencebased treatments for a full range of psychiatric disorders to plan and provide treatment to patients. 3. Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association to evaluate psychiatric disorders and apply professional diagnostic skills. 4. Knowledge of military organizations and culture and the unique stressors upon workers in an operational military workplace. 5. Knowledge of administration scoring and interpretation of select psychological and psychosocial measures to properly assess patients and familys needs. Sophisticated understanding of behavioral risk management and ability to engage appropriate protections as needed when risk of harm to self or others is present. 6. Ability to provide guidance and consultation services to medical professionals and military leaders and facilitate referrals to military or communitybased human service agencies and resources e.g. Protective Services or financial aid organizations. Other conditions of employment: 1. At a minimum qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0185 occupational series must be met. 2. Selective Placement Factor: Possess a current unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states the District of Columbia Puerto Rico or the U.S Virgin Islands. 3. Practice will require clinical privileges at the host MTF. MUST maintain active clinical privileges for the duration of employment. Must sustain current competency to practice at the independent level. 4. Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within the past two years. 5. As a condition of employment government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW local military treatment facility guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice. 6. Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 7. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. 8. Incumbent may share oncall duty during weeknights and/or weekends on a rotational basis as required consistent with other mental health professionals of the same specialty performing like duties. 9. This position has been identified as having regular contact with children. IAW Public Law 101647 Section 231 and Public Law 102190 Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position. 10. Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve after hours care or work in addition to regular duties. PARTTIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or parttime work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
