TimeInGrade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet timeingrade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS08. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF50 that shows your timeingrade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess oneyear timeingrade as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF50 that clearly demonstrates oneyear timeingrade. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR): The IOR is a basic requirement that must be met by every applicant in order to qualify for entry into this occupational series and is something that cannot be waived. Your education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. To qualify for this occupational series you must possess one of the following: Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs Counselor in a youth summer camp Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew Group activities leader in the Armed Services Unit leadermonitorproctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government) employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution social service or manpower development Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private public welfare government program or community organizations or in voluntary activities Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs. GS09 Supervisory Social Services Assistant: For this position you may qualify based on your experience and/or education described below: Specialized Experience: For this position you may qualify based on your experience and/or education described below: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS08) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. In order to meet the minimum qualifications for this position you must meet at least 4 of the 7 following specialized experience requirements: Skill in applying regulations and procedures as it relates to mental health and suicide prevention. Ability to develop review implement evaluate and modify training using various modes of delivery. Methods include silent monitoring of staff for consistency accuracy reliability 6 feedback and performance classroom instruction online learning resources briefings presentations training aids documents and other related training materials. Ability to design evaluate and modify training plans and objectives that meet the technical needs of staff supervisors and the organization. Knowledge of CAPRI Outlook PKI Excel and other computer software programs to develop and provide SSA training Knowledge of procedural assignments to include familiarity with clinical settings skill with computers data entry internet searches written communication and skill in organizing and maintaining records and record summaries to extract and analyze data to prepare management reports. Provides staff training and directions/guidance on the monitoring processes. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organizational priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience training and abilities of staff are utilized effectively to meet organization and customer needs OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. Applicants must possess a Masters Degree or have successfully completed two years of graduatelevel education leading to a Masters Degree or equivalent graduate degree that is directly related to the work of this position that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. One year of graduate study is usually considered to be 18 semester hours unless otherwise indicated by the school attended. OR Combination: Applicants may possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education with courses directly related to the work of this position that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. (e.g. 6 months of specialized experience and 27 semester hours of graduate education).. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Leadership Strategic Thinking Technical Competence Administration and Management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religions spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 3540 hours of work per week. Parttime experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
